Action Plan

The future of ASQ Section 1314 is of concern with the decline in membership and lacking participation of section members. In September 2005, the Board decided that the Section should continue and, in doing so, will seek to focus on (1) providing a site for examinations, (2)providing opportunities and resources for training (e.g., webinars and AQC certification exams), and (3) continuing to provide a local resource for recertification purposes.

Minutes of Recent Meetings

December 5, 2006 - ASQ Section 1314 Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order by Chair Gary Dechant at 5:15 p.m. In attendance were Gary Dechant, Linda Tegelman, Jan Kohles, Dara Hartmann and guest Todd Mason from Coors Tek.

Training: The meeting was held to discuss interest in and progress on providing a training class for those personnel interested in taking the CQT test in March. At previous section meetings there appeared to be potential interest from Coors Tek, SMS, and Williams employees. [Gretchen Davis confirmed] Coors Tek has 9 employees interested in taking a CQT class. Gary volunteered to make contact with various individuals to try and get some additional information.

Gretchen Davis reviewed the current BOK for the CQT exam and determined that the previous instructional materials held by the section would no longer be usable to conduct a training class. If such a class were required new instructional material would have to be purchased or developed. Gary suggested that if there were enough interest, perhaps the section and affected employers could provide some funding to acquire a commercial training course.

The CQT registration and exam dates are as follows: Register by 1/12/2007 for 3/3/2007 exam, register by 8/17/2007 for 10/20/2007 exam.

Dara inquired about the availability of the CQA training material. Gary will check with his Nevada office personnel who have that course material as to whether it is available to be sent back here.

Due to increased business and travel obligations Gary feels he will not be able to devote the time required to chair the section and asked for interest from members about assuming his position. If interested, contact Gary.

Meetings: The next section meeting will be held in March or April. Notifications will be sent out at a later date.

Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 5:50 pm.

Respectfully submitted, Linda Tegelman Auditing Chair, Section 1314

Congratulations! February 27, 2006

Dear Silver Excellence Section Chair,

Your Section has achieved SMP Section Excellence, Silver Level for the year 04-05. This is a great performance achievement for your Section and it reflects favorably on your Member Leaders and Regional Director. Your accomplishment of meeting or exceeding the Society’s objectives in member satisfaction, loyalty and retention helps to make your Section, your community and ASQ stronger. I look forward to shaking the hand of your representative and Regional Director at the 2006 ASQ World Conference in Milwaukee.

NOTE: Linda Tegelman attended the conference and accepted the award for our Section.
