NewsHAPPY NEW YEAR FROM THE OFFICERS AND MEMBERS OF ASQ 0512US Marine/Maxum Facility A big thanks to the management team at USMarine/Maxum Facility in Salisbury, in particular their plant Manager Kirk Claborn and Greg Mathis (Quality Manager) for being generous hosts on the evening. There were a number of 1st timer visitors on the tour. Hat’s off to all of the employees who also made us welcome during the tour. We have a tentative plan to tour NASA at Wallops Island in February 2006. Watch this space. The officers meeting at Standard Register scheduled for 1/3/2006 will be re-scheduled. Carol Walston/Sylviane Bouvier will convey the new date when agreed. Certified Quality EngineerCongratulations to our member, Laurie Strang on passing the Certified Quality Engineer examination set in December.Laurie is currently employed at K&L Microwave. Student Section: ASQ no longer provide the Quality Progress Magazine but Don can provide to students through student funds. Need to get By-Law completed, review and sign. Don will email to Sandy. We expect to sign this off in January 07 Wor-Wic – Jan 11 @ 10:00 Orientation Wor-Wic – Jan 25 @ 8:00 pm – someone to talk to students. Use part of scholarship fund to help section students with cost of certification. Ongoing arrangements: Carol Walston has volunteered as the Arrangements Chair. Jan. 17, David Ryan will speak at Chefs’ Fred. Finances are published in the Monthly Newsletter. Membership: Collaboration with DEL Section, maybe at Quality Conference. Reach One: Board will divide the membership list and make phone calls to bring members to meetings. Books: The list of books for sale is ready. So far $50 for the Section. Newsletter: Should receive all input during first week of each month. Section Meetings: Chefs’ Fred for the rest of the year (‘till June).
