Symposium Topics and Presenter Information

“Jogging Your Memory - Analyzing Data with the RIGHT Tools” by Cheryl Marzec

Join fellow professionals in reviewing ways to use quality tools you already know about. This workshop will allow you time to generate your own data and then participate in the group synergy to use quality tools to analyze the information based on objectives given by the workshop leader. The Memory Jogger II will be used as a guide to lead the workshop and discussion.

Cheryl Marzec founded Marzec and Associates, Inc. in 1995, and specializes in ISO 9000 consulting, assessing and training. Her ISO 9000 experience began with the initial standard, which was released in 1987 and continues to the current revision. When working with a company, her goal is to help them develop a management system that reflects their company culture, improves the quality of their product or service, and doesn’t bury them in non-productive documentation.

Her affiliations include ASQ Certified Quality Auditor and she is a Senior Member of the American Society for Quality (ASQ). In addition, she worked with Salt Lake Community College to develop their ISO 9000 Quality System Management course and taught the classes for many years. She continues to teach these courses to her clients.

Marble Madness!!! “Quality Tools to Help People Understand Corrective Action” by Tina Vigos

Get ready for some rough-and-tumble (quite literally) fun as we use the Discovery Toys’ Marbleworks to explore root cause identification and corrective action. This workshop is a hands-on lesson in adult learning while showing the importance of using quality tools to help people in your organization understand these often-misunderstood concepts.

Tina Vigos is a Senior ASQ member and is a Certified Manager of Quality & Organizational Excellence through ASQ. She has over 20 years of quality management experience. Her extensive career has covered every facet of quality, including manufacturing and receiving quality control, quality and reliability engineering, material review, statistical process control, supplier certification, quality program management and quality system/improvement implementation. Tina earned a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Utah.

World Café Concept - “Exploring Quality Tools to Achieve Extraordinary Success” by Grace Duffy

Join fellow professionals in sharing quality tool applications. ASQ is the community for anyone who seeks quality technology, concepts, or tools to improve our world and us. Expand your tool kit during this afternoon of sharing and learning. Grace Duffy, ASQ Vice President, has developed a highly interactive workshop to explore both "Eureka’s" and lessons-learned. Leave with new insights into the qualitative and quantitative side of Quality tools.

Grace Duffy provides services in organizational and process improvement, leadership, quality, and customer service. She is co-author of The Quality Improvement Handbook and The Executive Guide to Improvement and Change.

Grace holds an MBA from Georgia State University and a Bachelor's in Archaeology and Anthropology from Brigham Young University. She is an ASQ Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence, Certified Quality Improvement Associate, and Certified Quality Auditor. Grace is a Certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, and Manager of Process Improvement.

During her 20 years with IBM, Grace managed groups in technical design, services, education and process improvement. Grace worked with Trident Technical College, Charleston, SC for 10 years as Chair for Business, curriculum owner and instructor for Trident’s Quality and Corporate Management programs and Continuing Education Dean for Economic Development. Grace has been an active member of the American Society for Quality (ASQ) for 14 years. She is a Fellow of the Society and a Vice President within the ASQ Office of the President.
