On October 16th, our speaker meeting was held at the Hopkinsville-Christian County Economic Development Council office. Kim Schippers, our speaker has been promoted as the Executive Director and will start in this position in January. Kim provided us with a more global perspective on Industry in our area. All sorts of interesting details and area potential can be found at the chambers web site: www.commercecenter.org.

On November 15th the Math Expo was hosted at Christian County High School. This years theme was Math in the Real World. Please write in about your experiences about exposing the 11th grade student math classes to some of what they really need to know then they graduate. It would be interesting to hear about our future employees. Another event is planned later at Hopkinsville High School. The date has not yet been determined.

On Monday November 20th, there will be an industrial site tour at Continental Mills. It’s located in the second industrial park on 100 Krusteaz Way. Take Highway 41 South towards Pembroke, and turn at the sign on Frank Yost Way. We are just to the right of the tallest buildings (Siemer Milling.) The meeting will start in the second floor meeting room at 5:30 pm. After a short informational presentation, and snacking on examples of our products we will be going on a plant tour. As we are a food processing plant, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) will need to be observed. Blue hair nets, bump caps, and a lab coat will be provided. Also closed toe (and heal) shoes are required. The plant floor tour should be about 45 minutes. I hope to keep this all within our 1 ½ hour expectation.
.
Remember that the back room at O’Charley's Restaurant scheduled for our Christmas party on Dec 11 at 5:30pm. Please note the change of date. The party high light along with great company is a “Chinese Gift Exchange.” There is a dollar limit of about $15 -20 on the gifts. Names are drawn out of a hat and each additional person gets to either choose a new gift or trade for an already opened gift. This is always lots of fun!
